Sometimes you look for freelance work; sometimes freelance work finds you.
Last month, out of the blue, I got an email from Roady’s Hometown Truck Stop Magazine asking me if I’d be interested in taking photos of the owners of a truck stop in Hayti, Mo., for the August issue of their magazine. I had never heard of the magazine and know next to nothing about truck stops, but I figured it would be an interesting shoot. I took portraits of the couple who owns the truck stop, along with pictures of trucks and customers to go with the article on the inside. Who knew truck stops published magazines?
